Meaford Hall & Culture Foundation was very pleased to help fund the 2015 production of “Aladdin”, put on by “Kids in The Meaford Hall”.
Since 2009, Kids in the Meaford Hall group has been entertaining local children with quality productions. Aladdin involved ten experienced juvenile actors in major roles, plus five younger beginner actors. There were four performances. There is a large group of volunteers, both students and adults, who make this happen: set building, costumes, crew, director etc.
Working together, these kids learn all aspects of theatre – costumes, sets, taking direction and memorizing lines. They then put on a production that entertains family and friends. In learning to be responsible to the group, they learn that if one fails, they all fail and if one succeeds they all succeed.
Just over 1000 students were able to enjoy the play, free of charge – 980 students from St. Vincent-Euphrasia, Meaford Community School, Sydenham Elementary and Beaver Valley Elementary schools as well as a number of home-schooled students.
