On May 8th, the secondary French and history students from GBCS got to enjoy two Francophone Films at Meaford Hall. Some elementary students from GBCS & BVCS attended the morning film. Approximately 200 students in total.
The first one, Les Trois Mongols (Cross My Heart), is a heartfelt story about a 12 year old girl and her younger brother whose family is about to fall apart. The story is set in Montreal in
the 1970s where the political situation with the separatist military movement plays an important role. The second one, Dans La Brume (Just a Breath Away) is a French Canadian co-production about a couple who lives in Paris with their daughter who suffers from an incurable disease which forces her to live inside a medical tank. One day a strange and toxic haze fills the streets of Paris. The parents try desperately to survive the disaster and to save their daughter. Beside these two quality movies, the students got to enjoy treats from the French café, have their picture taken by the GB paparazzi, play some French trivia while enjoying some classical
cello music by a talented GBCS music student . Students attending were also able to win prizes for their festival attire. This day of movies and movie glamour was organized by Grade 10 French students with the help of a couple of the International students. These student put their heart and soul into the event making sure that everything ran smoothly.
