Meaford Hall & Culture Foundation was once again thrilled to sponsor the 3rd GBSS Francophone Film Festival at Meaford Hall.
The event was organized by GBSS grades 10, 11 and 12 French students.
Two students from the GBSS music department, playing a cello and a violin, entertained the crowd with lovely classical music. The Galleries at the Hall were transformed into a French cafe, serving delicious pastries and other treats. The students were dressed for the red carpet event and just to add to the authenticity of the event, the paparazzi were in attendance! Prizes for best dressed were awarded.
The two films shown at the festival this year were:
La Passion d’Augustine ~ In a small convent in rural Quebec, Mother Augustine puts all her energy and talent into the students, but the new public education system puts the future of the convent in jeopardy.
La Famille Belier ~ A young woman with deaf parents discovers that she has an amazing singing voice; but is unable to communicate her gift to her parents. A movie full of humour, warmth and charm.
Approximately 200 students from GBSS, MCS and BVCS attended the festival. Planning andexecuting an event like this provides good life skills, teamwork, patience and confidence. What’s not to love about being entertained and learning at the same time!
The laughter and expression on their faces says it all!
