Meaford Community Theatre presented a full afternoon of entertainment and enlightenment.
The event was to review and assess three locally-written plays that were stage-read by member actors of our theatre company. A stage reading is a form of theatre without full sets or costumes.
The three plays included:
The Asia’s Gone Down written by Harley Greenfield. The play relives the greatest shipping disaster in Georgian Bay where over 120 drowned. Share the remorseful recollections on stage of the only two survivors.
The Blonde Devil written by our youngest playwright, Eric MacLean. This sets to the stage the extraordinary journey of a female undercover agent air-dropped into Nazi occupied France. Find out if she gets captured by the SS.
Nell’s Place written by Brian Fray. Laughter ensues when one small town (Meaford ?) comes up with a crazy scheme to revitalize itself. Nell’s Place is sure to tickle your funny bone! There was an opportunity during the intermissions and after the final reading to meet the playwrights and actors to discuss the plays over refreshments.
