Sandcastle Musical Theatre Camp 2019
This year MCF provided 4 Bursaries for students to attend Sandcastle Musical Theatre Camp. The students performed at Meaford Library for friends, family and other children. A letter from one of the parents.
“My child was a recipient of the Meaford Cultural Bursary and was able to join the Meaford Sandcastle Theatre this past year.
The program was wonderful. As we are new to the area it was a excellent opportunity for my child to meet new friends. The children had the a great time learning all facets of creating a theatre production. They were able to write, direct, costume design and act in their own production which was preformed publicly on at least two occasions.
It was truly special for them to explore their own capabilities and work together to create a cohesive and accurate production about social media and it’s effects on people. The kids knocked it out of the park. The script included relevant themes about trolls, cyber bullying, and the reality that not all things are as they appear in fabulous “insta” pictures or Facebook posts.
I was fascinated by how well the kids understood what social media is actually about. In short, this experience was made possible due to the bursary provided by the meaford cultural grant. I am, we are, deeply appreciative of the opportunity.”

RE: Summer Camp Bursaries
Thank you so very much for the camp wide bursaries you provided for our Sculpture & Slime Camp (July 2-5) and Expressive Arts Camp (July 8-12).
With your contributions we were able to reduce the prices of camp for 26 children ($1,598.00 families didn’t pay).
The children enjoyed a variety of activities over the two weeks including donut and ice cream sculpture creations, beach class combing to make a variety of sculptures and design your own pillow case.
I hope you enjoy the photos from each camp! Thank you!

Meaford Public Library
Report to the Meaford Culture Foundation
The Meaford Public Library is grateful to the Meaford Culture Foundation for their sponsorship of screening the film The Public on Sunday, August 11, 2019. There were over 130 in attendance and although the Meaford Public Library would have loved to have had more people in the audience, we feel this event was a success. The film and the interview with Thunder Bay Public Library CEO, John Pateman, provided insightful examples of what libraries are doing for their communities. Libraries provide equal access to books and knowledge, but are also a safe place for people to gather, socialize, and improve their quality of life. One viewer commented, “Great event! Enjoyed the movie and the thought-provoking message it gives to all of us.”
The event raised $2,300 and after expenses $1,611.55 went towards the new Meaford Public Library.
