The community came together to help support the cause, over 200 people attended the evening show and close to 235 students attended in the afternoon. The events raised $4,000.00 for the program.
All the films complement the Pursuits Program mantra “Leadership. Adventure. Challenge.”
This year started with an exciting event, MHCF were happy to help fund the first “Pursuits Film Festival” Friday, January 13, 2017 at Meaford Hall. The Pursuits Program is a 4-credit integrated curricular program whose mantra is leadership, challenge and adventure. The students were tasked with putting together a video encompassing the past 11 years of the program. There were two shows; an afternoon one for students to attend free of charge, and an evening one where tickets were sold. Three films were shown along with guest speakers. The Pursuits Film Festival enables the presentation of unique arts and culture experiences by showing adventure films based in various communities in the world; specifically the First Nations of the BC Coast and on of the remotest jungles in the world in New Guinea. The students video was well received, past and present students and teachers were certainly proud to be a part of the event. Seeing themselves on screen brought laughs and fond memories.
