This year MCF provided 4 Bursaries for students to attend Sandcastle Musical Theatre Camp. The students performed at Meaford Library for friends, family and other children. A letter from one of the parents.
“My child was a recipient of the Meaford Cultural Bursary and was able to join the Meaford Sandcastle Theatre this past year.
The program was wonderful. As we are new to the area it was a excellent opportunity for my child to meet new friends. The children had the a great time learning all facets of creating a theatre production. They were able to write, direct, costume design and act in their own production which was preformed publicly on at least two occasions.
It was truly special for them to explore their own capabilities and work together to create a cohesive and accurate production about social media and it’s effects on people. The kids knocked it out of the park. The script included relevant themes about trolls, cyber bullying, and the reality that not all things are as they appear in fabulous “insta” pictures or Facebook posts.
I was fascinated by how well the kids understood what social media is actually about. In short, this experience was made possible due to the bursary provided by the meaford cultural grant. I am, we are, deeply appreciative of the opportunity.”
